Scope of Services: THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT is to restore approximately 3,500 linear feet of river edge and upland along the Kern River, encompassing about 10.25 acres of land within the Kern River Parkway. This section of the Kern River Parkway will be restored to its natural condition and will include conservation and interpretive enhancements, providing the public opportunities to observe native plants and animals within their natural habitat. Public access will be provided through five formal pedestrian public access points created by the project. Two major arterial streets, two public parks (which are served by public transportation), the Kern River Bike Path and the Kern River itself also provide access to the project. THE WORK CONSISTS OF constructing amenities, which will include conservation and interpretive enhancements, natural walking paths, overlook platforms, native shrubs, grasses, trees, an irrigation system, and a pedestrian bridge across the Carrier Canal. The City has received funding for this project through The Resources Agency of the State of California in the amount of $1,422,700 for design and construction. The City will provide the balance of the funding for design and construction.
